Step 1: Wash & Detangle

After shampooing, apply conditioner. Use a detangling brush and a large wide-toothed comb while your hair is still soaking wet and saturated with conditioner. The tools are key; your fingers alone won’t cut it!

Step 2: Condition

Apply your leave-in conditioner while your hair is soaking wet (and we mean soaking!). While working in small sections, evenly disperse the conditioner from root to tip to achieve maximum curl definition.

Step 3: Shake it!

Whether you shake is like a polaroid picture or a salt shaker, air needs to diffuse through your curls to get a curl “clumping” effect. So shake your head a few times vigorously to help separate and define your curls.

Step 4: Go!

Once your curls are shaken together, go! (That’s the point — you wash and you go!) Leave your curls to dry freely, or diffuse if you’re in a rush to dry them, but avoid touching your wet curls to avoid frizz.

To maintain your curls for more than a day, sleep on a satin pillowcase to lock in moisture and preserve your curl definition. If they need a quick refresh, dilute your leave-in conditioner with water and spray on your hair.
